The Convention Centre building, created by Spanish architect José Luis Mateo, is an architectural work with light as its main feature.

Designer of other iconic buildings, such as the future Film Library of Catalonia, the TGV station in Lille (France) and the AC Hotel in the Diagonal Mar area, José Luis Mateo has created an open building, completely versatile and facing the sea. The Convention Centre has 45 light and airy halls, distributed over 3 floors, 2 mezzanines and a basement.

The large exhibition hall, which is flooded with natural light and can be partitioned into 8 different zones, and a spectacular banqueting hall with views over the sea, are some of its outstanding features.

How to get there?

Coming from El Prat airport
El Prat airport is located 13 kilometres south east from Barcelona and 20 kilometres from the CCIB.
The train service between the airport and the city centre (Paseo de Gracia) is covered from 6:00 to 22:29 (direction Barcelona) and from 5:20 and 22:50 (direction airport). There is one train every 30 minutes and the travel time is 25 minutes. From the train station Paseo de Gracia it is easy to connect with the yellow line (4 line) of the metro. The closest station to the CCIB is Maresme- Forum.
The bus service between the airport and the city centre (Plaza Cataluña) is covered from 6:00 to 1:00 on working days and from 6:30 to 1:00 during the weekends (direction Barcelona), and from 5:30 to 00:15 on working days and from 6:00 to 00:30 during the weekends (direction airport). There is one bus every 8 minutes and the travel time is 30 minutes.
Next to Plaza Cataluña, you can take the yellow line (line 4) of the metro at the Urquinaona station. The closest station to the CCIB is Maresme-Forum.
The journey to the CCIB by Taxi takes about 20 minutes. Fees change according to the time of day. There is an additional cost for entry / exit from the airport and for carrying luggage.

By Car
The C-31 motorway connects the airport with Barcelona. The easiest way to get into the city is by the Gran Via or Avenida Diagonal, which are the most direct accesses to the city centre, or by Ronda de Dalt and Ronda del Litoral, which are the city ringroads.  The most direct way to reach the CCIB is by the Ronda Litoral -exit 24-. It takes about 30 minutes depending on the traffic. If you are going to the CCIB from the city centre by car, the best option is to take the Avenida Diagonal until the end.

By Public Transport
You can reach the CCIB by metro (Maresme-Forum station in the yellow line), bus (lines number 7, 36, 41, 43 and 141) and Trambesos (Forum station). All these stops are located just a few minutes’ walking away from the CCIB.
